#ThugsOfHindostan is very disappointing.

Movie Review: At the time when #EastIndiaCompany is taking over #Hindostan spreading the #British rule wide and across, #Raunakpur is still away from the clutches and continues to rever its ruler #Mirza(Ronit Roy). While his general #KhudabakshAzaad(Amitabh Bachchan) and son have been sent to convince allies, Mirza is prepping for an all-out war with the British rule led by #JohnClive(Lloyd Owen). But things change when Clive reveals he's kept his son hostage. Mirza gives up his empire but in vain, as Clive ends up killing him, his son and his wife. Surviving the royal family is its heiress #Zafira(Fatima Sana Shaikh). She's bold, courageous and even at a tender age, she makes sure Clive sees her anger. Cut to 11 years later, viewers are introduced to #FirangiMallah(Aamir Khan). #Kohl-laden eyes, trickster attitude, an inevitable charm and the knack of sweet-talking his way through things - Firangi, right from the start, comes with a spark. His priorities are set - money and life. He won't mind betraying anyone and everyone if things come down to his survival. Or so he thinks. In sharp contrast, there's Khudabaksh. He's undaunting, determined and someone for whom a word is the end all and be all. He wasn't just Mirza's general but is also Zafira's guide and protector. As evident in one scene, wherein Zafira apologises to him for not being careful enough to spot an enemy, he's the one who's taught Zafira the ace archery skills, the wizardry and the everything that has to be done on a battlefield. For the Company, their only enemy is #Azaad and to make sure they get their hands on him, they decide to station one of their own amidst their tribe. And who other than #Firangi to do this job because "surat insaan ki, dil jaanvar ka aur tabiyat firangi ki".  Soon after, the viewers are introduced to #Suraiyya(Katrina Kaif) - a woman of beauty that will make you fall short of words. That she's gorgeous and stunning is established right from the word go but her character doesn't rise up from her physical beauty right till the end. With the meeting of #Khudabaksh and #Firangi, it's clear that the two are starkly different from each other but there's a strange connection between the two, which in fact, is one of the major points that the makers have played with. The first half of the film has mixed proportions of drama, action and humour. Even though the end is predictable and can be smelled from a distance, there's a certain curiosity to see how things unfold. And much of it has to do with the way the film has been shot and the magnificence of its sets. While the background music adds to the narrative, the songs of the film are forgettable, to say the least. Amitabh Bachchan as Khudabkash has mystery written all over him and despite the fact that he comes across a little tired (partly to do with the character's requirement).#VijayKrishnaAcharya, the director, saves the best of all for Firangi – the dialogues, the layers, the costumes and of course, the punch lines. And Aamir doesn't disappoint. #Katrina as Suraiyya has hardly anything to do in the film. #Fatima's high-octane action sequences are a delight to watch but her emotional moments fail to rise above the surface level. Plot-wise, the film feels a little dragged and its running time, a little too stretched.  Besides this, #MohammedZeeshanAyyub, who plays #Sanichar, is wasted in the film. The film's cinematography, however, is a major plus point. The action sequences, especially the ones on the ships, are well choreographed. Except for some wherein even the stunts are overtly dramatised.
Overall,#ThugsOfHindostan is a visual spectacle that plays to the gallery with its storyline, making use of the good vs evil undertone. The film feels a bit too dragged.
