#Sui Dhaaga is truly a heartwarming film that will inspire you to follow your heart.

Movie Review: There is nothing extra-ordinary in #Mauji’s (played by Varun Dhawan). He is just another below poverty line individual who runs personal errands for his boss, provides him and his son with entertainment (literally), is troubled by an resentful father and an ailing mother. His life is so average that he and his wife #Mamta(Anushka Sharma) never even shared a meal together since their marriage – yet, for Mauji, ‘sab badiya hai’! At least that was the case until he has epiphany thanks to his wife and begins to hold his own.#Sui Dhaaga is another one of them heartland films that Bollywood has brought to the audience time and again with a compelling story, heartwarming characters and a narrative which will leave you in tears yet provide the much-needed inspiration to drop everything and follow your dreams.
Director #SharatKatriya tells a crisp story. The film gets slow in a number of places but you don’t feel the lag because the performances, especially of Varun Dhawan, Anushka Sharma and #RaghubirYadav (Mauji’s father) is so engaging that you feel like a part of their story every moment of the way.Varun has really evolved as an actor. In Sui Dhaaga, his body language has the right amount of goofy and his accent has the right amount of subtly. Anushka too, barring a few scenes, nails it as an domesticated, yet smart and strong-willed woman. However, it is Varun’s chemistry with Raghubir Yadav, which is truly the selling point of the film. Their father-son relationship is complicated and yet totally relatable to even the metro-living Y2K generation folks. The music in the film has that much-needed old world charm. It’s just simple and melodious, like how we loved it in the bygone era. There is not much to the cinematography, but the detailing in this film, to portray a the family life of this household, in the outskirts of Delhi, is just extra-ordinary.The pay-off scene in the film is when Mauji and Mamta enter in a fashion fund contest and how they present their art on the ramp. It really will hit you at the right spot. While, the film doesn’t ever feel like a drag. There are couple of occasions in which the lead characters do ‘something’ which was completely out of character.Add to that, most of the second half of the film takes a number of convinience driven turns and at times. The biggest issue of the film is the fact that we are told from the word go that Mauji is an excellent tailor, but how and from where did he learn this craft goes unmentioned till the end. The only fact justification we get is that his family lineage and nothing else.
Overall,#VarunDhawan and #Anushka Sharma’s #Sui Dhaaga is truly a heartwarming film that will inspire you to follow your heart. It is a wonderful family drama that will leave you in tears and make you giggle at places. The film has been seen with strong performances and a compelling story that is bound to hold your attention for the entire duration of the film.
