#YPD3 is disappointing
Movie review: The film introduces us to a renowned Ayurveda doctor Vaidh Puran (Sunny Deol), his good for nothing younger brother Kaala (Bobby Deol) and their paying guest of 35 years, who hardly pays them any rent, lawyer Parmar (Dharmendra). Their life turns upside down when Cheeku (Kriti Kharbanda) enters their life. And the trio gets into a legal tussle with an evil corporate giant.
The actual story starts at the interval point. In fact, in the first half, it felt more like a love story rather than a comedy film because Dharmendra was hardly there in the film and Sunny too had maximum 3 scenes and some passing shots.
The film gains momentum at the interval point but then loses the plot once again in the second half. It though gets back on track in a silly but funny climax thanks to the charm and comic timing of Dharmendra and the action avatar and innocence of Sunny Deol.
Performance wise Dharmendra, Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol, they all have great screen presence. Also, he looks dashing and quite young and fresh. It is Sunny Deol who is the driving force of this film. His character is not a comical one but he holds the film together. He is perfect in emotional scenes.Kriti Kharbanda looked breathtakingly gorgeous and performed her role well.
It was good to see Shatrughan Sinha on-screen after a long time. His chemistry with Dharmendra is fantastic. Asrani is barely there.Other supporting cast members are fine.
Direction by Navaniat Singh is poor. The film is filled with stereotypes and some racist jokes, none of which is funny. The line, "Hum Punjabi Hain" and several variations of it is repeated multiple times in the first half. And it's not funny even once.
Overall, Yamla Pagla Deewana Phir Se tests your patience. It's a two and a half hour bore. sadly the movie is disappointing.
